Gulf Region Museology
A literature review on contemporary museum development in the Gulf Region.
Working with Dr Btihaj Ajana at King’s College London, I conducted a literature review on contemporary museum development in the Gulf Region.
I carried out systematic searches across scholarly and policy sources, prepared an annotated bibliography and grouped the material by recurring themes. These included museum development and national identity, cultural diplomacy, heritage, collection policy, education and public programming.
The review assembled research on institutions across the Gulf states and recorded the geographical and institutional emphasis of the available literature. It provided a source base for subsequent research into the region’s contemporary museum landscape.
